Dan,

Go to FireDaemon properties (under
ControlPanel/Services/FireDaemon:xxx/Startup on NT4).  I'd guess that this
service is running under the local System account, so it doesn't have
sufficient priv.  You may need to change this to your own account/password,
or use one of the privileged domain accounts.

Got my event log screwed up by mrtg errors, i run it as service using
firedaemin, here 2 errors i keep getting

The service failed to shutdown correctly due to subprocess being unable to
be killed. Error code: 5.
--------------------
Subprocess monitoring failed due to subprocess is no longer active. The
subprocess is probably dead. Restarting the process. Error code: 997
