I don't know of a max, I would be more concerned about 
the counter wrapping that occurs from the resulting equation.

if you do "target [ ] : OID1:public at IP1 + OID2:public at IP2 +...", you'll add
the respective inOctets with 1 colour and the respective outOctets with an
other colour

you have to add a new target in your cfg file to have the sum on another
graph
