[mrtg] wiped out logs

Not sure how this happened but when performing some maintenance
(deleting/modifying) on some defunct interfaces that we still had in our cfg
files i somehow wiped out all the logs - now ive lost all my yearly, monthly
statistics - these were backed up but im not sure how this happened - does
anyone have any ideas what might cause this?
