Hi Mike,
I experienced the same difficulties as you are..... until i checked out the
following site

Paul Simmonson has done a great job with the site and it is easy to follow
and more importantly it actually works.
Give it a go, i 'm monitoring Exchange, SQL, Page Faults, Working Set Memory
usage etc etc.... using his steps.... Basically anything that has a
performance monitor counter can be monitored via the steps listed on this
site..
