For Windoze and *NIX servers I've been using Big Brother to monitor 
services and disk space.  MRTG can do this also however I believe Big 
Brother to be a rather nice overall tool.  It provides email/pager 
notification and a web page for regular updates along with many other 
features.

P.S.   I understand this doesn't directly answer you question in 
monitoring with MRTG.   Look at their screen shots from their home page. 
 It's great software and I've been using it for nearly a year now.
