[mrtg] --filter descrÿegexp

Hi,
I would like to configure indexmaker to filter configuration file content 
based on interface description, much in the same way that I can now sort on 
desc

Is there a command like the following:
     --filter descr=~regexp

or is there a workaround

or is there a reason I should not be trying to do this.
