"No response received" could mean any one or a combination of the following common problems:

 - You are using the wrong community string ("public" is usually the default on many devices, but could/should be changed)

 - SNMP is not enabled on the device. If you are trying to pull info from a router or switch, chances are good that the device itself supports SNMP, but it may have to be "turned on."

 - You are using the wrong IP address

Are you trying to pull info from a router? If so, can you telnet into the router and check whether SNMP is enabled and what the community string is?

Essential SNMP is a book from O'Reilly. Should be available in your local bookstore, or at Amazon, etc.

There was another post that gave information on SNMP port numbers, although I believe some Cisco routers use a different port.

When I run cfgmaker I get multiple

SNMP Error:
no response received

Errors. Is this because I have no SNMP server or access is blocked. What
port does SNMP run on?

Is this on their site (link please :^) or a book?

Thanks,

Dan
