[mrtg] mrtg using snmpv2c

hi there;
 i am trying to use snmpv2c with mrtg. i am currently monitoring using
interface index numbers and it works fine with snmpv2c. i have decided
to start using interface by name (for the obvious reasons) but it
doesn't seem to work with snmpv2c. can anyone help?
