[mrtg] lock file

Hi,

Can any one tell me why the lock file gets created?
Is it serious, or I can just ignore lock file. 

And one more question, I am running my mrtg as daemon
and every approx 5 mins I am getting a mail saying
unable to open one of my config file which I have
inculded in main config file, but mrtg graps shows
things are fine.
