[mrtg] Re: timestamps different on Linux vs Win2k

If you know your timezone offset then just take UTF and subtract ( or add )
the difference.

Im in the Eastern Time zone here in the states, which is EST (UTC -5). My
state doesn't observe Daylight savings time so I am always UTF -5.

Hence, if UTF is 7, It is 2 for me.

Or that's how I do it at least.

IMO DST is a pain. I was on the road during a time change and had to call
the front desk to ask them how to adjust my clock. They thought I was nuts.
I had to explain to them that Indiana doesn't observe DST so I had never
done it before.
I think like 60% of the world doesn't observe it so leave it to my country
to be different. :)

Thanks

Larry

BTW, I'm having a difficult time figuring out how to convert the UTC to "my"
time so that I can try to diagnose why I'm having this problem. Anyone know
where I can find such a resource, or get the formula for the conversion?
In the MRTG log file documentation there are two suggestions, one for excel
and the other for perl - neither work for me.

Copied my logs over from a working 2k MRTG machine to a new Red Hat Linux 8
MRTG machine and run MRTG. It yells at me that the time in the log file is
in the future.
Paraphrased:
Rateup found that blahblah log file time of 1040419311 was greater than now
(1040376170).
Error: Let's not do the time warp, again. Etc...

The two machines have the same time set.

Can anyone write me a clue? I really don't want to lose my historical data
when I move my MRTG over to Red Hat.

TIA,
Eric
