If there are a small number of machines, then you could set up CAR and
monitor CAR - quite a pain for normal users, but pretty doable (and
worthwhile) in a colocation environment.
If there are a large number of machines, then your best bet is to use
netflow collection to gather the information you want. Get information on
flow-tools from www.splintered.net/sw/flow-tools

Subject: [mrtg] Just want to know if it is possible
Hi!
i am running MRTG for a cisco 2600 series router which is acting as a
gateway for my network's traffic to internet. i have configured MRTG to
display the traffic stats of only physical interfaces like eth0 serial0
and serial1. but what i want to do is to gather the traffic stats of all
the machines which are using that router as a gateway. instead of running
MRTG on switch too can i get the desired data from router only. if yes
then how ?
