Are you doing the exact line as below ?

You gave it the output line AND you redirect output to it.

You need to do one or the other.

Hi all. I am new to mrtg. I am able to successfully configure a single
 device at a time. However, when I try and list multiple routers in
 my config file, the config maker utility runs fine. But when I try
 and execute mrtg, I receive failures. Does anyone know why this is
 happening, or how I can correct this? Also, is it not possible to view
 vlan devices with MRTG?.
