Thaty has nothing at all to do with MRTG.  That 
depends on how the machine MRTG is installed on deals 
with domain names.  Mine does, but that's because I 
have my resolv.conf file looking at my DNS servers.

"perl cfgmaker public at somerouter.domain.com"
will MRTG resolve the IP address
