[mrtg] strangeness

Platform specs: NT2K;Apache;MRTG2.9.10;ActiveState perl;MR Daemon

every once in a while, the batch file running MRTG stops at:
$readline
A simple keypress clears the prompt(?) and continues the batch file.
Anyone ever see this?
