MRTG - polls targets, stores data, creates HTML+PNGs on every interval for
every target.
RRDTool - polls target (MRTG can actually do this) and stores data on every
interval.
With RRDTool no html and png images are created this save a lot of time.
The html and png files are created only when you want to view the graphs by
using 14all.cgi, routers.cgi, cricket or any other frontend.

Subject: [mrtg] Plain mrtg or RRDtool ?
Hy,
maybe this is obvious, but i try to find out under which circumstances you
would use plain mrtg and in which situation s.o. would choose RRDtool.
What is the big advantage using the one or the other ?
Thank you.
Daniel
