Hi Gene,

It greatly depends on the type of machine you are running.  I would
recommend a SCSI-based (SCSI doesn't soak up CPU cycles the day IDE does
during the hi I/O that MRTG causes at that number of targets) with plenty
of RAM, and at least on 1 Ghz Pentium III processor or better, or a
comperable Sun or other vendor system.  The key though is SCSI.  I'm not
sure what type of performance you can get with Windows 2000, but I've run
a dual proc SCSI box with about 1,000 targets before on Solaris and Linux.
