[mrtg] newbie seeking a mentor

This sounds like a strange request, but I have a simple
network at home, just a few machines, a cable modem etc.

I have been doing this stuff for like 9 months now, I am
pretty good but I do have large gaps!

Right now I have managed to get the software installed on my
netbsd box and get graphs going and all.

Now I have 2 problems. 

The first should be easy, I have these other machines, the
main one is a red hat box (7.0) which I want to do.

Now I have a friend you has got stuck tring to do this kind
of thing before and he could only do it with devices like
routers etc.

So how do I go about getting the mrtg to read the info from
the redhat box???

If this information is online then I apologzie but I have
sifted through so much of it and there still appears to be
gaps.

I tried to install ucd-snmp on the redhat box and I got a
missing dependancy of libbz2.so.1 (may have been 0 I can't
remember) So I looked for the rpm with this in and it was in
bzip2, BUT this is already installed. I looked for the
source but came up short, how do I get this library on my
redhat box?

My next issue will be trying to pull information from the
cable modem box (right now I have the interface on the
netbsd box graphed) I also want to do signal/powel levels
for the modem)

So if there is a kind soul who would like to help me sort
all this out I would be most greatful!
