I think the best answer is "depends".

What OS are you running?
How many targets are you polling?
What spec is your MRTG box?

But I believe a few medium jobs is better than running one large job.

can anybody tell me the best way to run mrtg. ie, is it advised to run mrtg
daemon for each device (ie have a different cfg file for each device) or is
it better to group them together and execute.
