[mrtg] snmp question...cjk

Hello all.
I am trying to install mrtg to my redhat 7.1 but i can configure it and i 
have errors for SNMP.
Do i need SNMP?I want to start monitor the eth card.
If i need how do i configure SNMP to work with MRTG?
I found through LINUXCONF that has some predefine mrtg scripts and they 
WORK.
So mrtg works on my computer but is not CONFIGURED,
