Hello everybody,
I have a problem getting mrtg' answer to some OID's. Let me explain the
situation.
before of that I like to express my gratitude to SNMPBoy and WTC sites. They
are wonderful and errors mentioned here are not trying to say nothing
against these implementations.
Lets go now to the subject:
I am trying to graph some performance counters for Windows 2000 machines. To
do that I have used two "different procedures.
Procedure 1:
This is based in the information in SNMPBoy site
(http://snmpboy.rte.microsoft.com/).
I followed the procedure stated there (copy the Perfmib.ini and perfmib.dll
files and add Registry keys).
Before using mrtg configuration files, I tried some easy MibBrowsers:
Snmputil and Getif (v2.2). The masjority of the results are OK.
Then I implemented mrtg config files, indexfiles and activated it.
As a result I was able to monitor the following OIDs ( I used the config
files in this site):
Memory: Available vs Commited Memmory (Bytes):
.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.1.2.0& .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.1.3.0
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
MEMORY: Pages per second vs Page faults per second:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.1.9.0 & .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.1.1.0
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
MEMORY: Page Reads per second (Hard Faults) vs Page Writes per second:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.1.11.0 & .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.1.15.0
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
Processor Utilization (%): .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.1
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
Disk Utilization: .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6.2 & .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6.3
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
Processes: .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.1.6.0 & .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.1.5.0
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
System Used/ Free Memory:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.4.3.0 & .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.4.2.0
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
System memory Total/ Hard Page Faults: OID:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.4.1.0 & .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.4.9.0
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
ICMP/IP Messages/Datagrams:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.1.1.0 & 1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.2.1.0
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
TCP/UDP Segments/Datagrams:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.12.1.0 & .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.16.1.0
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
TCP Active/Passive Connections:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.12.3.0 & .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.12.4.0
Test with mrtg: OK - Graph is working
Procedure 2:
This is based on the information in WTC - Williams Technology Consulting
Services (http://www.wtcs.org/snmp4tpc/redirect.htm)
I downloaded the SNMP4W2K and installed (it is quite similar to procedure 1
but its Perfmib.mib is compiled by him and also has additional OIDs). This
was domne in another Windpws 2000 machine.
Here one question: How do this files Perfmib.dll, perfmib.ini, perfmib.mib,
mib.bin? I would like to understand that.
I know that the Extensible agent, the machine will use the perfmib.dll
copied in the %systemroot%sytem32 directory, but I do not understand clearly
how the others file interwork.
Going back to the procedure 2: I implemented mrtg config files, indexfiles
and activated it. As a result of the Activation phase I got the following
errors:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------

Exactly the same Eroor for the following OIDs:

OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.16.1.0
Question2:
How can I fix these errors, what do they mean?
Note: I know that last weel someone asked the same qusetion. I think he/she
was stooped to send messages due to a virus problem. Anyway I did not see an
answer to this error type.
Thank you for your help.
Best Regards,
Carlos Cadena
