    Maybe you have luck with
    http://razor.bindview.com/tools/desc/strace_readme.html , it
    allows to trace the system calls of an application and you
    also see what exact filenames it tries to open certain files.
    More then once I successfully detected wrong path names or
    problems with slash/backslashes or drive names.
