[mrtg] host-template trouble

Good morning,

  i see in the archives that many have been having trouble with the
templates given on the somix site.  i also see that many seem to be having
success with them.

  i fall into the former category and cannot get the bloody things to work.

  Could someone please explain what the process is?

  It seems pretty straight forward.  Copy the template from somix into a
file, then call 

configmkr --host-template=somix-template community at routerIP 

however, this always ends in some sort of perl error.  missing " or missing
explicit package or something.  Is there something that has to be modified
in the templates?

i even tried the templates given in the cfgmaker man page but had similar
failures.

i also notice that the variable names and layout of the templates given in
the man page are quite different those in the somix templates.  Is this a
version thang or does it matter?


a gracious hand would be appreciated.
