Hi All,
I've just installed a Netscreen 5 FW and now I'm trying to monitor it with
mrtg. I create an SNMP community Admin. I've installed Getif2 and i can walk
the MIB's and request data without any errors....
Next I ran cfgmaker Admin at 192.168.123.1 and no problems the script got
created. I just changed the workdir manually. I Started up the script and i
ran fine. It created the HTML & png files. Ran the script a couple more
times and even say the data. Everything for now I run the updates from a
looping batch file.
The problem: After about 10 good runs it stops working and generates the
following errors:
2002-07-24 19:26:29 -- SNMP Error:

2002-07-24 19:41:31 -- Started mrtg
As you can see after the errors I again get 3 good runs.... So I got script
that works half of time.
What I tried so far (including 20 recreations of the script)
- Ran SNMPTrafficGrapher to see if it was a problem with the FW Device (at
the moment mrtg gave errors)
- ran Getif2 at same moment the errors occured --> no problems
- snmputil no problem
--> conclusion: no problem with SNMP on the FW
- Downgraded MRTG 2.9.21 to 2.9.18 (just to check)
- Increased the timeout values (to 20 seconds)
my string now looks like this
-->Target[192.168.123.1_1]: 1:Admin at 192.168.123.1::20:5::
The moments it doesn't function appear to be completly random. After 5 days
I'm ready give up.
Does mrtg (or activeperl) usses windows scripting engine? I've got version
5.1 en now I'm suspecting everything...
Someone got an idea??
