[mrtg] strange error on mrtg.cfg

Scatching my head on this one...
I am gettig the following error on only 1 of my many cfgs

ERROR: CFG Error Unknown Option "@main:" on line 28 or above.
           Check doc/reference.txt for Help
The error referrs to line 28 of /usr/bin/mrtg which reads
$main::GRAPHFMT="png"
I am using only png formant and not specifying a format within the
cfg file.

cfg is for a Cisco router using rrd log format.
Uses the same snmp string as the other routers, which are not getting
any errors.
MRTG graphs are updating for the router in question
Only diff is that the router is running HSRP, but I am polling the
real ip address via MRTG.

Running mrtg 2.9.17 on Redat 7.2
