Mmmmm.... don't know about that, BUT...

If on Unix, use vi, set the option that shows line numbers (:set nu), and 
then do:

:77,115s/^/#/

assuming that the block-of-code-to-comment-out starts at line 77 and ends at 
line 115.

Just a workaround...
