You can do it, as long as you don't have a need to view the 
graphs - lol!

Seriously, you can do all the polling and data storage.  What formats 
does your organization support?  If not CGI, what else is available?

I am currently running Mrtg 2-9-12a and would like to upgrade to the latest
version. What do I have to do to accomplish this?
I would also like to switch to rrd but our enviroment has chosen not to
support CGI formats is there anyway to get arround this and still use
MRTG/RRD?
