use THRESHOLD CHECKING in your config file, when exceeding a threshold
mrtg can call an external script for you that sents out an email f.i.

Subject: [mrtg] MRTG and E-mail notifications
Hi
It is possible to configure MRTG to compare polled value to predefined
value, and if this one is exceeded to take some action (run .bat file e.g.)
Has anyone got it sending E-mail notifications about these events?
If so I would appreciate details.
Regards
Fritz
