I refered to the "Target[x]: ..." line.  This line tells MRTG what, and
where, to query.  There could be a host name here, or an IP address.

In both cases it would be best to use the localhost entry.

The NIC you query is most likely selected in the so called instance.
(see google: OID instance +site:faq.mrtg.org)
