no, yes (but not necessarily 0) and yes.

run 'grep -i gauge mrtg.cfg' (substitute your own config file's name
if it is different.  Visit the faq.  The grep shows that you have no
gauge and the faq tells why you need one in this case.  It tells you
more, probably some other items you do not yet know you want or need.
