*sigh* Same thing ...
What files, exactly, is it looking for? Maybe I'm missing something and
I don't know it? Does it need the libpng and libjpeg source files?

give the paths to these libraries while compiling.
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mrtg-2 \
--with-png=/usr/local/src/libpng change the paths int his
