ok I'll try that and the suggestion from the other poster. But I do
have many mrtg graphs that only return 1 variable, e.g. my processes
charts:

http://mrtg.aphroland.org/portal.aphroland.org/portal.aphroland.org.proc.html

maybe the 2 variables only applies for SNMP ?? much of my system
mrtg stuff is just scripts, e.g. the above is a script which returns
currently only 1 number "211", no others. MRTG usually spits out a
warning like "Expected a number for 'out' but got '' "

it hasn't caused a problem for me, at least with my scripts MRTG just
graphs the 1 data point.
