[mrtg] fix an incomplete logfile

Hello,

i'm trying to fix an incomplete logfile. Several months are without data. I
want to fill these missing months with similar data. Could someone give me
an advice how to do that on the right way?

I was thinking about to write a perl script which will 
 
 1] replace the '$timestamp 0 0 0 0' rows with '$timestamp ' + messurement
from the similar-data-file
 2] change the system date to $timestamp
 3] run mrtg

foreach missing-data row.
 
Am i on the right way? How to improve? Is it possible to do that without
snmp-queries by using rateup?
