[mrtg] Re: Blocking Kazaa on PIX Firewall

Unfortunately, there is no good way to do this. The newest Kazaa software does not seem to tie itself to any particular port, although I have not seen a Kazaa installation that did not try to use port 1214 tcp/udp. That's only good for detection though - blocking 1214 doesn't stop the software from working.

This isn't really the best list for this discussion - maybe try the unisog list or something similar, where this question would be more on topic.

Note that there can be more to it than just blocking a port outright. Depending on your situation you may be able to come up with a workable solution that only eliminates local kazaa nodes, etc.

Subject: [mrtg] Blocking Kazaa on PIX Firewall

Hi all,

Does anyone knows how to block Kazaa through my PIX Firewall.
Because as far I know, kazaa uses port 80 to download the files, and I
cannot block this port.

Thanks a lot;

Marcos Guerra
