Not on 8. I have it running here for some time now. I even added an rpm for
rrdtool some months ago. Suggest you use the latest snmp that comes with
redhat 8.0.

Why. Use the latest from Red Hat. They work. Using packages that are not tested
with any distro _might_ be enough to cause problems. The packages listed below
are tested and known to work.
(icarus pts5) # rpm -qa | grep snmp
net-snmp-5.0.6-8.80.2
net-snmp-utils-5.0.6-8.80.2
(icarus pts5) # rpm -qa | grep mrtg
mrtg-2.9.17-8
(icarus pts5) #
FWIW I just tried cfgmaker on my 9 box and it gave me what looks like a
perfectly usable mrtg config.
