[mrtg] Alert mails

Dear All,
Does anybody know of any alert system utility which can trigger a batch file
or execute a command when the wan link goes down.

I am sorry that this question is not really related to MRTG, but just
thought of asking the group form their expertise. Thanks for all your
valuable inputs.
