Copying the .old and .log files over to the new workdirectory was sufficient
for viewing old data but I still would like to know how to get it into a
dbase. However copying the old .cfg files over hasn't gone as smoothly. I
did update the WorkDir path but still log several similar event log error
messages:
Argument "ERROR" isn't numeric in subroutine entry at D:/Program
Files/ActivePerl/site/lib/Win32/EventLog.pm line 199,
Am I forgetting something basic here?
Particulars:
W2K sp3 all updates
ActivePerl 5.8
MRTG 2.9.28
Startup command:
"D:\Program Files\ActivePerl\bin\wperl.exe" mrtg --logging=eventlog mrtg.cfg
Working Dir:
"D:\Program Files\mrtg-2.9.28\bin"
Thanks

You can't just copy the .log and .old files over?

No will be heading that way but would like to import old log files first or
at least get an understanding of what I need to do. I would like to kinda
plan my installs and configs instead of changing on the fly.

I'm also going through the same procedure. Are you using RRD now?

Hello all,
I am in the process of rebuilding one of my monitoring boxes and as such
have upgraded my version of mrtg from 2.8 to 2.9. I would like to know of a
way to import previous configuration, historical data, as well as log/read
to/from a database etc. I read the FAQ and there was nothing in it except a
mention of putting the files in a Round Robin database using rrdtools, I was
hoping to store them in a more robust method such as MSSQL. Google groups
revealed several others with the same question and a few references to
recovery from a corrupted log file. I would be more than happy to write the
FAQ once I have been educated on the process.
TIA
John Bonner
