I did myself (based on the templates by gvolk at gvolk.com) a host & interface template for my Cisco's from iftable and cisco's liftable. 
These templates are customized for my use, so some cfgmaker parameters arent honored sometimes and some interfaces are left out completely (admin/oper-down, ISDN D-channel, Dialer, Virtual-Access)
They also build and W2k CPU, Cisco CPU, Mem, Buffer-misses, switching-path, packet counters and some IPSec-Mib stats.. 
These templates act intelligent, detecting if the counter to be polled also exists (i.e. Vlan-subif don't have errors and switching-stats), inserting maxbytes for cisco mem based on (usedmem+freemem) etc..

They aren't really complete or perfect, I'm still improving these, but it should at least give you the right direction how to build your own..

I call it with (one line):
/usr/local/mrtg/bin/cfgmaker --ifdesc=descr --if-template=/usr/local/mrtg/cfg-template/interface-genericsnmp.template.ElabNET --host-template=/usr/local/mrtg/cfg-template/host-genericsnmp.template.ElabNET --community='xxx' --subdirs=HOSTNAME router1 router2 router3 >> /usr/local/mrtg/mrtg_temp_cfg

both templates are attached, please note the listserver strips them off and places them for download (link at bottom)

BTW, anybody having created some other "bigger" templates which can give me ideas ? if there'd by some place to collect templates I can post mine regularly if something is updated..
