[mrtg] Template ?

Hi list :)
its some sort of newbie question ;) 

can you please tell me who can i use template on MRTG ? 
for example those are in mrtg and somix ? 

if im not wrong , mrtg bydefault just working with Interfaces , i want to use 
CPU and Ram usage , Squid or 3COM Total Control devices :)
