[mrtg] Log File Conversion

This is a sample line from the Log.  I understand the first line is the Unix
time stamp, the second line is suppose to be the counter for in-bytes and
third line is the counter for out-bytes.  Can someone explain to me how this
value is convert to bits/sec or kb/s when MRTG graph this counter value?
