Thanks for your response .
When I start MRTG with statements written in mrtg.cfg for ping probe ,I get
messages like "Input last not defined " etc .
I will  copy the messages and email them .

Its often useful to tell us what the error messages are.  Otherwise, how the
heck are we supposed to help?  Why don't you just give us your phone number

    I have installed ping probe and made changes as suggested by
documentation but when I start MRTG I get various error messages .

     I am one of the old users of MRTG and I found it very useful . I have
setup MRTG up and running for monitoring of WAN traffic  on Cisco 3660
router . Pls advise how to monitor CPU and interface errors on Serial WAN
links ,I am using point to point links . Also advise how to monitor ping
