The easiest way to do this with Cisco products is to poll the snmp
variable sysObjectID and look at the ciscoProducts number embedded
in the oid. From the current CISCO-PRODUCTS-MIB downloaded from
ftp.cisco.com, you'll find the following definitions:
cisco3620 OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { ciscoProducts 122 }
cisco3640 OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { ciscoProducts 110 }
cisco3660 OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { ciscoProducts 205 }
cisco3661Ac OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { ciscoProducts 338 }
cisco3661Dc OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { ciscoProducts 339 }
cisco3662Ac OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { ciscoProducts 340 }
cisco3662Dc OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { ciscoProducts 341 }
cisco3662AcCo OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { ciscoProducts 342 }
cisco3662DcCo OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { ciscoProducts 343 }
Plus a couple hundred more...
