Is MRTG sending to root or is cron sending to root?

If its MRTG check for something similar to

SetEnv[myrouter]:  EMAIL="contact_email at someplace.net"
                     HOST="www.some_server.net"
                     URL=";

If however its your cron facility then
you need to locate where you are running mrtg from
(most likely /etc/crontab or check via "crontab -u root -e"

at anyrate you can add
MAILTO=username OR user.name at what.ever
and have the email get sent there, but unless you are checking that email
you will
sill fill up some volume.

Personally I would check your root email ;) perhaps just setup a filter on
your email client to catch mrtg stuff.

At least for me personally I would never want to go withoout checking the
root email, as I have too many things email there like tripwire, and
logcheck etc.
(well actually the email goes to another user so I dont have to check the
root account but you get the picture)
