Here are the libraries I have already installed on my SUN solaris 5.8:


gd-1.8.3-sol8-sparc-local
libpng-1.0.11-sol8-sparc-loal
zlib-1.1.4-sol8-sparc-local

but not sure why it complains about version 1.0.6?

aparently, the problem is "gd-png:  fatal libpng error: Application must
be recompiled; version 1.0.6 was i ncompatible"

you need to update the libpng in your linux box. try to find a newer
gd-png version in http://www.rpmfind.net or in your linux distro
website.
