Michael,

Now there is a solid solution. Although it is more complex than I also
want to go. I on occasion get burned by mrtg non-execution due to old
config's and such and have yet to give this considerable thought.

Another option may be to simply look at the file modification time of
the rrd, maybe. My problem is we were just purchased and our net is
reeling with changes. Anyway, thanks for the post of your solution as it
gives me something to think about.

Cheers,
Woody...

I had the same problem, my solution is:
- I changed my "mrtg-display.cgi" (own customize, deriverd from
mrtg-rrd.cgi and 14all.cgi and some own code) to output either "RRDsOK"
or "RRDsOLD" in a HTML-comment.
- use Nagios/check_http to look for the string "RRDsOK" in the HTML-code
of several targets
This ensures that everything from the data-collection to the web-display
is working 100% fine (but is quite complex, I know).. Maybe it gives you
some hint where to go, there should be at least a "Last updated" on each
MRTG-page which could be checked some way, but I doubt WhatsUp is able
to handle complex checks (?)

Hello
Is there any way to monitor MRTG to make sure that it is running and
graphing. We use WhatsUp Gold to do most of our network/service
monitoring.
Thanks.
