At least on RedHat 8.something, no accents or quotes are required, but the space is present in my config.

I'm not 100% sure but I think what you need to do it use accent marks
around the script. By accent I mean a "`" which is on the same key as the
tilde. Also, you might want to try putting a space after the colon before
the accent.
