Joe,

Is the number you get a rate? By default MRTG calculates the rate per
second: (new value - oldvalue)/300
The number of messages per second is probably less then 1. You can try
"perhour" at the options line.

If the number you get is not a counter but a "current status" you have
to add "gauge" to the options line (and leave out the perhour)

Hth,

Jan.

Subject: [mrtg] Exchange 5.5 monitoring

Hello, all! Newbie here...please be gentle....

I've been thru the archives, and found several useful messages to get me
started, but I'm having a bit of a problem.

My config:

Exchange 5.5 on NT 4.0 SP6a
SNMP for Exchange has been applied to the server

>From my MRTG box, I can SNMPGET 1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.3.14.0 which
gives me the number of messages queued to be delivered to the internet.
SNMPWALK on 1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.3.14 gives me results as well.
GetIF also works well for the stats for Exchange.

In my monitor.cfg file, I've got the standard stuff (a number of other
devices are successfully monitored), but this section for my exchange
IMSQueuedOutbound isn't returning what I need:

# Microsoft - imsQueuedOutbound
#
# This configuration was generated by
# Somix Technologies, Inc (www.somix.com) - Dynamic Template Assembler
#
# Example CFGNAME : [DEVICE NAME]-Microsoft_imsQueuedOutbound
Target[exchange.imsqout]:
1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.3.14.0&1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.3.14.0:public
@192.168.1.72
MaxBytes[exchange.imsqout]: 100
Title[exchange.imsqout]: Exchange IMS Queued Outbound
PageTop[exchange.imsqout]: Exchange IMS Queued Outbound

# NOTE: You may need to change the options below to reflect this type of
MIB

Options[exchange.imsqout]: unknaszero, growright
YLegend[exchange.imsqout]: Msg Outbound
ShortLegend[exchange.imsqout]:
Legend1[exchange.imsqout]: Messages Queued OutBound
Legend2[exchange.imsqout]: .
Legend3[exchange.imsqout]: Max value per interval on graph
Legend4[exchange.imsqout]: .
LegendI[exchange.imsqout]: Msg
LegendO[exchange.imsqout]: .
Colours[exchange.imsqout]:
GREEN#00eb0c,BLUE#EEEEEE,GRAY#AAAAAA,VIOLET#ff00ff
WithPeak[exchange.imsqout]: ymw

The log file shows:

1068655050 20 20
1068655050 0 0 0 0
1068654749 0 0 0 0
1068654600 0 0 0 0
1068654300 0 0 0 0
1068654000 0 0 0 0
1068653700 0 0 0 0

And, since the top line is the only one that's containing data, my
graphs never show any activity.

Any help would be most appreciated!

   -Joe
