[mrtg] basic configuration of mrtg

hi everyone,
i m new to mrtg software,i had download the necessary things required it to work.
graphs had also started generating but i m not able to understand it properly
can u please help me the basic of how it works and whether i can personalized the bandwidth chart of the graphs.i m having a broad band at my please from tata.i need to monitor the input and output traffic for consumption of the internet.
