[mrtg] Re: Cisco Aironet 1200 oid; continued

I hope I get this right. The value 4294967280 is the compliment 1's of
the value 15. Assuming a sign bit on a 32-bit counter, 2 ** 31 is
4,294,967,296. It looks like it may be some kind of buffer overflow or
as it decriments the counter it is going to a negative value. We only
have 1 Cisco 1200 AP right now, but will probably have a lot more soon,
so this is interesting to hear about. I will have to start monitoring
the OID to see what ours does.

Hello All,

In reference to these messages:

http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/mrtg/msg25378.html

The OID for cDot11ActiveDevicesTable is 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.273.1.1.2.1.1,
and
it always gives a value back. But sometimes, it will give back a
10-digit
number, such as 4294967280. When the AP does not give the 10-digit
number, it gives 0, 1, 2 [...], the correct number of clients as
viewed
through a telnet and www session.

We have over 100 Cisco 1200 AP's and this is happening on over half of
them. The values are always between 4294967288 and 4294967295.

Every one of these AP's run IOS 12.2(13)JA1
(c1200-k9w7-mx.122-13.JA1),
and these values were walked with snmpwalk UCD-snmp version: 4.2.6 on
FreeBSD 5. I've tried to clear the counters on the interfaces and
such,
but I haven't figured it out. For the life of me, I cannot find any
difference in the config of the AP's.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks and sorry if this double-posted,
David
