Sara,

This sounds like snmp is not working on the Redhat ES machine.
Are you sure that snmpd is running, the snmpd.conf allows remote
reading and snmpd is in the hosts.allow ( if you are using 
tcp wrappers) and you have no firewall running.

Let me know and we should be able to work this out.
