[mrtg] CFGMAKER --ifref or --ifdesc question

I have tried to find a way to pass my catalyst port desc names and replace
the normal interface numbers so my html will read x.x.x.x_portname instead
of x.x.x.x_5.html.

i.e. I named my catalyst port 5 server1 and none of the switches will pull
that desc to read x.x.x.x_server1.html

I tried 

--ifref=descr                      ... by Interface Description
--ifref=name                       ... by Interface Name

--ifdesc=descr                     ... uses Interface Description
--ifdesc=name                      ... uses Interface Name
--ifdesc=alias                     ... uses Interface Alias

Is there anything else I can use or can this not be done?
